Since life started on earth, the spectrum of light from the sun is what plants have adapted to . It is ideal for plant growth because it includes a wide range of wavelengths that plants use for photosynthesis. Blue light (around 450-480 nm) promotes vegetative growth, while red light (around 600-700 nm) is crucial for flowering and fruiting. Additionally, the full spectrum of sunlight ensures that plants receive balanced energy for various physiological processes, such as phototropism and stomatal regulation.
At the lowest power setting, you will find that the two wavelengths that plants rely on most are optimized in a range within 15nm nm of the apex in the blue and red ranges. This provides the plant with the most optimal photosynthetic photons primarily while minimizing power losses. The light is over 7 times the intensity in these wavelengths than what a plant would receive on the surface of the earth... and that is only at 0.4 amps (240v AC)!
On the highest power setting, Infrared and Deep Blue wavelengths are enhanced for intensifying plant maturation and production of compounds and turpenoids.
